Twitshirt

FAQs

Your questions answered, Twitshirt style.

  1. What the heck is a “Twitshirt,” anyway?

We—Airbag Industries, that is—started this site for a few reasons: we love Twitter, and we love the people who tweet. We just love the writing on Twitter so much, we started wishing we could make it more permanent, to have a physical souvenir from the tweets we most enjoyed. On more than a few occasions, we found ourselves saying something like, “Man, that tweet should be on a t-shirt.”

After a few months, we realized we should, like, make a website or something to do just that. That’s how Twitshirt was born.

But this isn’t a purely commercial venture: we want to give back to the Twitter community. That’s why Twitshirt tracks royalties on each purchase, and pays Twitter authors for each shirt that’s sold with their words on them.

  2. Wait—I can get paid for this?

Yes indeed. Whenever someone buys a Twitshirt, we set aside $1.00USD for the tweet’s original author. That’s you.

To claim your royalties, simply create an account with us, and provide us with your Paypal address. Your first payment will be made after you make $20.00USD, with subsequent payments on a cycle of 45 days. (This allows us sufficient time to track potential product returns, which all appear on your account page.)

  3. How much can I make?

There’s no limit on how much you can collect from your Twitshirt royalties: sell twenty Twitshirts, get twenty bucks; sell two hundred Twitshirts, get two hundred bucks. We’ve even come up with a few tools for people to help promote Twitshirts: check out our Tools page for some browser-based tools, as well as some code for site owners interested in selling Twitshirts.

  4. Sounds awesome. How do I sign up?

To get your t-shirts on Twitshirt, all you need to do is opt-in via Twitter. To do that, you can either tweet @twitshirt #opt-in, or click on the OMGhuge "Opt-In via Twitter" link on our homepage.

Once you've opted in to Twitshirt, your shirts will appear for sale in Twitshirt automatically. But to collect your royalties, you simply need to sign up for an account with us.

  5. I’m a Twitter application developer—can I sell Twitshirts through my application?

Absolutely. Please contact us for more details.

  6. How do I opt-out?
